Nandana Dev Sen’s workshop set the tone for the upcoming The Hindu Lit for Life Children’s Fest 2019. Singing, dancing, acting and solving puzzles...kids had a riotous time.

The hall resounded with laughter when author, actor, and child rights activist Nandana Dev Sen brought stories to life. There were two sessions — one for younger kids and the other for older ones. The seats were limited.

Sen had the children spellbound with the stories and activities based on her books: Not Yet , Mambi and the Forest Fire , Talky Tumble and the Jumble Farm , and In My Heart .

Excitement galore

Participants read, danced, sang, solved word puzzles, and enacted the animals that feature in her books.

Nandana invited a child to read along with her from the book Not Yet . And as the character in the book keeps putting off her bedtime and other activities with a loud “not yet!”, the children chorused along with her.

Talky Tumble and the Jumble Farm has a lot of anagrams. Sen asked participants to solve some. Can you guess what the anagram “Neat as Mary” (7,3) is? It spells Nandana’s father’s name — Amartya Sen!

Participants went back a happy and hyped up lot with a certificate and a goody bag. The event was held at The Savera Hotel.
