Sales of ultra-premium models rose five times

In May, just ahead of the World Cup, Samsung India saw a 110% growth in the sales of its 55-inch and bigger TVs such as QLED TV, ultra high definition TVs.

The company also said that the sales of its ultra-premium 75 inch and above TVs grew five times in the same period, indicating consumer preference for larger screen TVs to enjoy the World Cup.

Samsung had seen customers in smaller towns such as Vijayawada, Vishakhapatnam, Hubballi, Jodhpur, Agra, Jabalpur, Nagpur, Raipur, Ludhiana, Dehradun, Jalandhar, Cochin, Coimbatore, Baroda, Ranchi, Tirupati, Asansol, Madurai and Kolhapur, among others, upsizing to larger screen TVs, that is evident in the rising demand for Samsung’s QLED TVs in these cities. Samsung, which claims to be the market leader in the Indian TV industry, commands a 47% market share in the premium 55-inch TV segment.

Eyes 55% share

“We want to take this share to 55% by this Diwali riding on the rising sales of large screen TVs,” said the company. With the recent launch of Samsung QLED 8K TVs, Samsung is eying 70% market share in ultra-premium TVs (75 inch and above) from its current market share of 53%, it further said.
