DRL launches hypertension drug in U.S.

Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL) has launched Chlorthalidone tablets, a therapeutic equivalent generic version of Hygroton (chlorthalidone) tablets used in the treatment of high blood pressure, in the U.S. The Hygroton brand and generic had a U.S. sales of around $122 million MAT for the most 12 months ended in September 2018, the company said in a statement on Wednesday, citing IMS Health figures. Stating that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) had approved the product, Dr. Reddy’s said its Chlorthalidone tablets, USP, are available in 25 mg tablets in the bottle-count sizes of 100 and 1,000, and 50 mg tablets in the bottle-count size of 100.
