TVS Srichakra Ltd., a well-known maker of two-wheeler, three-wheeler and off-road tyres, will be launching radial tyres for motorcycles soon. Unveiling the company’s new identity and logo — TVS TYRES — here on Friday, P. Vijayaraghavan, Director of the company, said the new logo conveyed strength, speed and dynamism.
Talking to reporters, he said there was a rapid increase in tubeless tyres in the country with manufacturers incorporating it in the new vehicles. The concept was catching up fast, and they were also significantly increasing the production of tubeless tyres for the motorcycles and scooters segments.
Asked about the market conditions for two-wheelers, he said: “We are doing well in the OEM market, aftermarket segments, and in exports. We are No.1 in OEM and No.3 in aftermarket, and are growing. In the last three years, the two-wheeler segment witnessed a good double-digit growth. It will continue in 2014-15 and 2015-16 as well. This year will be doing a turnover of Rs.1,900 crore.”He said the monthly volumes had increased to 1.9-2.0 million tyres from 1.6-1.7 million tyres. Further expansion would be demand driven.
