Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday launched the new generation WagonR with prices starting from ₹4.19 lakh (ex-showroom).
In addition to the 1.0 litre engine, the new WagonR will come with a 1.2 litre engine variant. The company claims that the vehicle offers a fuel efficiency of 21.5 km/l for 1.2 Litre variant and 22.5 km/l for 1.0 Litre variant, which is nearly 10% higher than the outgoing model. The vehicle comes with a fuel tank capacity of 32 litres.
Safety features such as driver airbag, ABS (antilock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake force distribution), front seat belts reminder, speed alert system and rear parking sensors as a standard across variants in the third generation model.

Maruti Suzuki and its partners have invested about ₹670 crore for development of the third generation WagonR.
Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India said: “Over the years WagonR has become the choice of more than 2.2 million families. We are confident that the new WagonR with its all new robust design, dynamically crafted and spacious interiors, SmartPlay Studio, strong HEARTECT Platform and Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology will become the choice of many more Indian families.” Since its debut in 1999, WagonR has over 2.2 million happy customers and it’s the first car for nearly half of them, the company said.
The new WagonR also comes with a 17.78 cm touch infotainment system that combines smartphone, vehicle and cloud-based services. Besides listening to music, users will be able to surf news, get weather updates and locate eateries around them using this system.
It also offers an enhanced boot space of 341 litres, which can be expanded to 710 litre by folding the rear seats.
