Dr.Reddy’s launches heartburn tablets in US

Pharma major Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has launched Omeprazole delayed-release tablets, 20 mg, which are used in the treatment of frequent heartburn, in the U.S. market. An over-the-counter store-brand equivalent of Prilosec OTC (omeprazole delayed-release) tablets, 20 mg, the product has been approved by U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Reddy’s said on Tuesday. Prilosec is a registered trademark of AstraZeneca AB. The combined market of Prilosec OTC and private label omeprazole OTC products had U.S. retail sales of around $492 million for the most recent 12 months ended October 2018, the company said citing IRI.
