Britain’s Business Secretary Sajid Javid met Tata Sons’ Chairman Cyrus Mistry and discussed a host of issues concerning the sale of Tata Steel’s U.K. plants, requesting him to be a ‘responsible seller.’ The visit comes even as Tata Steel is likely to commence the formal sale process early next week. The minister held closed door meeting with Mr. Mistry and Mr.Koushik Chatterjee, Group Executive Director (Finance & Corporate), which lasted for couple of hours, where several issues, including buyers, sale process, support from U.K Government and job losses were discussed, said sources in the know of things. The prime concern of the U.K. minister was to ‘secure as many jobs as possible’ as the Tata’s decision to sell the plants cast doubts over the future of upto 40,000 British jobs. However, 'Mr.Koushik Chatterjee, when asked if the agenda of the meeting was to protect as many jobs as possible, told The Hindu , “Let’s not speculate unnecessarily.”
