By the time you approach thirty, your skin undergoes perhaps the most visible changes in comparison to your body. While the signs of skin ageing aren’t as prominent as some product billboards would like you to believe, it is time to start working on your skincare game to avoid any signs of ageing or skin damage from becoming noticeable. Luckily, a few simple habits are all that it takes to chalk out a great skincare regime that keeps your skin healthy and glowing!

1. Best friends with sun creams

Although most of our daily routines don’t entail much exposure to the sun, getting into the habit of using broad spectrum sunscreens on a daily basis is a must. With a heavily depleting ozone layer, harsh UV rays can do enough damage even with minimal exposure to sunlight. Besides sunscreens also protect skin proteins like collagen, keratin, and elastin which delays skin ageing.

2. Begin using light lotions and skin serums

While its okay to begin using anti-ageing lotions in your 30s, heavy anti-ageing creams only make the skin prone to eventual breakouts, causing more harm in the long run. Start off with light lotions and skin serums that have anti-ageing properties but don’t end up blocking your pores.

3. Skin Oils

Skin oils are a great starting point to any skincare regime, especially for facial skin. With time, it is natural for your skin to lose some of its softness and bounce and skin oils are a great way to prevent this from happening in your thirties. A five-minute massage regime every night with a fatty acid rich aroma oil is all you need to keep your skin bouncy and softer looking.

4. Facial Steaming

In your thirties, skin regeneration starts slowing down and dead skin cells begin to clog your pores leaving you vulnerable to acne, breakouts and skin irritation. The easiest and cheapest solution to this quandary is facial steaming. Besides facial steaming makes your face receptive to other skincare therapies, helping you lay down the foundation to a skincare regime that will last for years. just make sure you don’t take steam more than once a week and for no longer than 10 minutes.

5. Exfoliation

With age, the process of shedding dead skin cells slows down and the presence of dead skin cells makes your skin look weary and dull. In your thirties, dead skin build-up isn’t very severe and a weekly exfoliation session with a natural scrub is a great way to prevent skin damage caused by dead cell accumulation. Just remember not to overdo exfoliation as it could leave your skin rough and dry!
