Man of the hour

Mallu Singh has done wonderfully well for Unni Mukundan. The young actor hopes to end the year with a bang. He has three interesting projects and challenging characters lined-up. Unni will be seen as a typical village lad in Padmakumar’s Pathiramanal ; he plays a newly recruited police officer in Diphan’s Gangs of Vadakkumnathan , one of the segments in D Company , and joins Asif Ali and Isha Talwar in B. Unnikrishnan’s I Love Me . “The film I’m eagerly looking forward to is Padmakumar’s Orissa . I play a Malayali police officer on deputation to Orissa.

He does not understand Oriya and there’s this girl who does not know Malayalam. The film is the story of their love in the backdrop of human trafficking. The film will happen early 2013,” says Unni.

Salim turns serious again

Salim Ahmed is one director who firmly believes that actor Salim Kumar’s USP is not comedy. No wonder he has decided to cast Salim Kumar in another important ‘character’ role in his forthcoming Kunjananthante Katha. “Mammootty plays the lead role in a film that is, in brief, about a mismatched couple. It is a many-layered character that will bring out the best in Mammootty, the actor,” feels Salim Ahmed. For the first time in Malayalam The film will be recorded on sync-sound by Resul Pookutty. Madhu Ambat (cinematography), Isaac Thomas Koottukappally (background score) and Rafeeq Ahmed (lyrics) are part of the team. The film rolls in December.
