The Union Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Dr. Karan Singh, said here [Panaji] yesterday [February 4] that Goa would be developed as an important international tourist centre and that he had come here to see for himself the various facilities that could be offered to foreign tourists. Dr. Karan Singh, who ended a 36-hour intensive tour that included visits to churches and temples, told newsmen that three centres in India had been selected for development to attract tourists. These were Goa, Gulmarg, and Kovalam in Kerala. He said the flow of foreign tourists to India was very small and the Government intended to have a breakthrough to increase their number.
