From the Archives: Dacoities in Bengal.

Quite a number of dacoities are reported to have been committed in the province of Bengal last week. In Murshidabad one case is reported in the village of Kasior Police Station Mirzapur. In this case some 15 men entered the house of a woman named Sarada Bewa, tied her with a rope and beat her to death. The dacoits removed cash and ornaments valued at about Rs. 120. In Backarganj a woman’s house was looted in the village of Kalirnath, Police Station, Mazirpur, by 10 or 12 men, who murdered the owner of the house and decamped with cash and jewellery. Vigorous police enquiry is proceeding.
