The second-seeded Somdev Devvarman extended his mastery over Di Wu of China, as he recorded a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the quarterfinals of the $50,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Shanghai on Friday. In the semifinals, Somdev will play the fifth-seeded Luca Vanni of Italy who battled his way past the third-seeded Yuki Bhambri 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-2.
While Yuki will play the doubles semifinals partnering Divij Sharan on Saturday, Devvarman made the doubles final with Sanam Singh, by defeating James Cluskey of Ireland and Kyle Edmund of Britain in straight sets.
The results: Singles (quarterfinals): Luca Vanni (Ita) bt Yuki Bhambri 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-2; Somdev Devvarman bt Di Wu (Chn) 6-2, 6-4.
