Maharashtra, with 101 points, won the overall championship in the Unequipped event of the senior National powerlifting championship here on Wednesday. Karnataka (77) and Kerala (61) finished second and third respectively.
Maharashtra also took the women’s team title, with 53 points, ahead of Karnataka (48) and Kerala (34).
Odisha emerged the men’s champion, with 51 points, followed by Maharashtra (48) and Madhya Pradesh (36).
Ishwar, Sampa the best
Ishwar Machkhand of Odisha and Sampa Guha of Bengal were named the best lifters in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
