Two century breaks by Kyren Wilson — in the second and fourth frames — put paid to Ben Woollaston’s hopes in the second round of the Indian Open snooker tournament on Thursday.
Wilson kept his nose in front for a 4-3 victory.
Wilson lost the opening frame 24-74 before firing back with 119 in the second, and then built up rhythm in the third to weigh in with 105 in the fourth.
Woollaston, with an impressive performance againstRonnie O’Sullivan during a European Tour event in Germany, could only look on as his rival produced a 71-break to sign off with a flourish.
Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh stunned Belgian Luca Brecel 4-0 (65-9, 72-39, 72-71, 137-0), ranked 49, in the second round.
Un-Nooh rattled up a 137 in the fourth frame, displaying breathtaking precision and delicate touch. The Belgian held the upper hand going into the match, but found himself reduced to a spectator as the left-hander got into his groove from the start.Mark Williams strung together a 127 break in the deciding frame to win 4-3 against Peter Ebdon and confirm a third-round berth.
