Manju Bala competes in the women's hammer throw competition at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon on September 28, 2014.

The Olympic Council of Asia has announced that China’s Zhang Wenxiu, who won the women’s hammer throw gold a couple of days ago, has failed a dope test.

The sample, taken during a pre-competition test on September 26, was found to contain Zeranol and its metabolite (ß-Zeranol), a prohibited substance in the WADA Prohibited List 2014.

Zhang has been disqualified from the competition as well as these Games and her medal has been withdrawn.

The silver winner, Wang Zheng, and bronze medallist, India’s Manju Bala, have been upgraded to gold and silver respectively.
