London bound Annu Raj Singh shot 377 and finished 32nd in women's air pistol in the shooting World Cup in Milan, Italy, on Wednesday.
On a day when the Indian pistol shooters, both men and women, failed to make an impression, Olympic qualified Annu Raj struggled with a bad start, following rounds of 92 and 93.
However, Annu Raj recovered to shoot rounds of 97 and 95, but missed the final by eight points. In the absence of the other Olympics bound air pistol shooter Heena Sidhu, who had opted out of the meet, the other Indian women Sonia Rai (375) and Shweta Chaudhry (374) settled for the 42nd and 43rd spots in a field of 81 shooters. Olena Kostevych of Ukraine topped the qualifiers with a score of 392, while two shooters with scores of 385 had to fight for the last spot in the final.
In men's air pistol, Amanpreet Singh shot 576 and was placed 31st in a field of 83 shooters. He had a series of 95, 96, 99, 95, 95 and 96 and missed the final by six points. The top eight shot in the range of 586 and 582.
Omkar Singh (575) and Vijay Kumar (570) were placed 34th and 59th respectively. Shooting in the MQS section, Gurpreet Singh came up with 577.
