Sebastian Vettel’s future team-mate Daniel Ricciardo will drive for Red Bull until at least 2016, team boss Helmut Marko has confirmed.
“We are talking about at least three years,” Marko said in a television interview of Austria’s Servus TV on Monday evening.
Ricciardo will move from sister team Toro Rosso for the start of the 2014 season, replacing fellow Australian Mark Webber, who is retiring from Formula One at the end of the season.
“This is a logical and sensible decision,” said Marko, who revealed that the 24-year-old Ricciardo was three-time world champion Vettel’s “preferred candidate”.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner announced the news of Ricciardo deal on the team’s website on Monday evening.
