Hope you caught the action from the previous game. Portugal slamming seven past North Korea. Click to read the >match report.

Some history for you - The only time Honduras ever played Spain in an international, they drew the encounter 1-1 back in the 1982 WC. The internet wasn't in use in 1982, so I'm afraid I cant give you the match report link to that one.

And here we go. National anthems being played. The move to ban the vuvuzelas during the national anthems is working to an extent. No blaring during the national anthems here. But the vuvuzelas hit you with a vengeance immediately after the final note of the anthem is sung.

Minutes away from kick-off... And we're off!

All you England fans, here is something interesting for you. Capello has told the BBC that he has made it clear to the players that they are "not on holiday", and must get on with performing on the field. Ouch!

4th minute: The Honduras defence gives away the ball in their penalty box. Spain pounce on it and Torres has a go, but his shot is blocked. Appeals for handball, but rejected.

Hey hold on, replays clearly suggests the defender used his hand to push away the ball. The ref didn't spot that one.

7th minute: David Villa unleashes a ripper from way way out. The 'keeper is comprehensively beaten but the ball crashes into the top post. Unlucky for Spain, almost the opening goal.

9th minute: Cross comes into the box and Sergio Ramos falls to the ground as he tries to get something on the cross. Appeals for a penalty, but the ref has none of it. Gives a stern warning to Palacios though, the Honduran defender.

12th minute: Ramos meets a cross with a header, but is unable to keep it down as it sails over the goal. Ramos got tied up with his teammate Pique, who seemed more of a hinderence to Ramos getting a clean header than the Honduran defence.

The referee - Yuichi Nishimura from Japan - is under scrutinty already. Spain have claimed two penalties, both denied. Talk about a thankless job, pity the refs at times.

14th minute: Ball put into the 18-yard box but Casillas makes an awkward clearance.

17th minute: Spain score!! David Villa with a beauty!! Brilliant individual work from Villa. Receives the ball in left field. Surges into the 18-yard box, beats one defender, side steps another and puts the ball into the top right corner of the net. No chance for the keeper, sheer brilliance from Villa.

Are we looking at another 7-goal rout here like the Portugal match? My shorthand skills are very limited, so I'm hoping not. I'm old school, I look at the keyboard while I type.

24th minute: Xavi Hernandez cant put his head to a cross from Navas. Just a bit too high.

I know the world is caught up in the football now, but perhaps you can spare a minute for Wimbledon tennis action? Defending champ and eternal favourite Roger Federer almost crashed out in the first round to an unseeded Columbian. Read the report >here .

Quiet few minutes of play. Neither team with any clear chance.

32nd minute: David Villa terrorizing the Honduran defence again - this time in the box - muscling his way past the defender but cannot get the shot on target.

34th minute: Fernando Torres disappoints! Takes the ball from just outside the penalty area, steps in and takes a shot with his right. The ball is way off target though. Come to expect better from Torres. Wild!

Honduras playing catch up. They haven't had a real chance at goal yet.

40th minute: Villa at it again. Receives a clever pass from Navas inside the box, but he isn't able to convert. Corner kick the result. Villa - the star for Spain so far.

42nd minute: Drama! A Honduran defender falls to the ground and clutches his face in pain before a free kick is taken by Spain. No one knows why. Ref didn't see it. No one except David Villa, who hit the defender in the face when no one was watching. The cameras were watching, but the ref didn't catch it, so no harm done. If the ref had seen that, it would have been a straight red for Villa.

45+1: Villa crosses for Torres deep in the penalty area, whose shot is blocked by the defender. Torres looks out of sorts.

Half time whistle goes. Spain lead 1-0.

Honestly, Spain should have had more than just the solitary goal. Villa has been a constant threat while Torres has had a few fairly simple chances which he hasn't converted. Honduras never looked like they would score in this half. For the South Americans, it has been more a case of damage control and then doing any damage of their own.

Right, join us in a bit for the second half. This could still be an even match, with Honduras just a goal down. If they step up in the second half, Spain could rue all those missed chances in the first 45.

Back for second half action. Talk about a quick break, didn't even have time to finish my midnight snack. Oh well..

Honduras really need to string a few attacking moves together now. Sitting back in defence wont help. Like we said at the start of the match, a defeat for either team will mean the end of the road for them in this World Cup.

51st minute: Spain score their second, Villa gets his second!! The Navas-Villa combo working well yet again. Navas with a pass from the right. Villa takes the ball outside the penalty area and curls one past the keeper. The ball took a deflection off a defender though, and the keeper is stranded while going the wrong way.

You could sense that second Spanish goal coming, just a matter of time given the number of chances they have created.

Real blow for Honduras. Can they force a comeback from two goals down?

61st minute: Penalty for Spain. Navas brought down!! David Villa to take the penalty.

Good god, Villa misses! The easiest chance to get a hat-trick goes horribly wrong. Villa goes for placement rather than power, the keeper goes the wrong way but the ball goes agonisingly wide of the right post.

65th minute: David Suazo, don't be a hero! Suazo takes shot with his left, rather ambitious given the distance. Casillas doesn't even move, it is way off target. Honduras showing intent though.

67th minute: Substitute Fabregas makes a clever little run and is on goal here. He goes round the keeper and tries to put it into an empty net but a back-trackking defender keeps the shot out.

Honduras need to do a USA here. Remember, the USA were in a similar position against Slovenia in their group match, down 0-2 and then scored two in dramatic fashion to draw the game.

15 minutes to go in the game, time slowly running out for Honduras.

Spain still looking to attack. Wonder why though. They are obviously not content with playing possession and running down the clock. I know what you're thinking, thank God I'm not a coach, driving away the fans with my conservative style of play!

But again, two goals may not be enough for Spain, for if three teams remain on 6 points in the group, then it comes down to goal difference. Thus the relentless Spanish attack.

83rd minute: Villa with a chance to make amends for his missed penalty. He is unmarked as a cross comes in from left, but the Honduran defender clears it just before it reaches the striker.

5 minutes to go, Honduras pressing hard but unable to break this Spanish defence.

87th minute: Villa almost put the game beyond doubt there. Completely unmarked and free in the penalty box as he receives a cross, takes a shot with apparently only the keeper to beat, but defender Mendoza enters the frame with a great challenge to block the shot. That would have been Villa's hat-trick for sure if not for the timely slide from Mendoza.

Safe to say the game is done and dusted at this point. Honduras with no chance to string a comeback, it is more a case of if they can keep Villa and Spain from scoring a third.

3 minutes extra time

Final few seconds...

It's all over! Spain comfortable 2-0 winners. David Villa - the star of the game, missed penalty notwithstanding.

So Spain move to second position in Group H with one win in two games, 3 points behind group toppers Chile. Honduras, well, this is the end for them.

Spain coast to victory here. They could have easily scored five or even six goals if they their finishing was better. David Villa should have had a hat-trick, but the striker did his job with two special goals.

Just received a question from a friend asking if Honduras can still make the next round. "Can they qualify on Net Run Rate?", he asks. No sir, they are out on all counts.

With reference to the above, just to clarify that we made a mistake. Honduras can still qualify to the knockout rounds. If Chile beats Spain and Honduras does the same to the Swiss, they could sneak in on GD. But that's a big IF.

That's it from me. Be sure to join Swaroop Swaminathan - our resident football guru - as he covers the South Africa v France game on Tuesday at 7.30 pm IST. Until then, it's goodbye!
