Bhaichung Bhutia, very proactive in promoting the Indian Super League (ISL), feels that the visibility of the inaugural ISL season and quality of football played over two months should trigger interest among the youth in the country to play football.
“The ISL will get more youngsters into the game; there’s no about doubt it. The viewership was massive on television and thousands turned up at venues. We have to get more licensed instructors and coaches. Talent has to be spotted at the grass root level and the AIFF should provide programmes and support systems.’’
The AIFF secretary Kushal Das said that the ISL has improved infrastructure at all venues. “The success of the ISL will have a drop-in effect on the I-league and there has been plenty of positives,” Das said.
