With the Supreme Court raising the issue of conflict of interest against him in the last hearing, N. Srinivasan denied any wrong in owning an Indian Premier League team while being the president of the BCCI, a post from which he had to step aside following the spot-fixing and betting scandal.
Mr. Srinivasan’s counsel, Kapil Sibal, told the court that all sorts of allegations had been made against his client, which had nothing to do with cricket. Counsel said the Mudgal panel’s finding did not suggest “conflict of interest.” “You have to lift the corporate veil to find out whether there is any conflict of interest,” Justice Ibrahim Kalifulla said.
