New Zealand paceman Kyle Mills said it would be ‘a strange feeling’ for him to play against an Indian ODI line-up without Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.
“You have been accustomed to playing with them in the team,” Mills said while addressing presspersons here on Friday.
Mills said, “Every time I bowled to Sehwag on this ground he’s got a hundred so I’m pleased he’s not there. It’s a new-look Indian side but it’s a team performing well on the international stage. They play a lot more cricket than us.”
The paceman said the Kiwis would seek to make early inroads. “Hopefully we can get into their top order. It’s a different Indian side to what we’ve faced over the last decade. There are new players on the scene with a bit of hype about them. Kohli is obviously a quality player and (Shikhar) Dhawan has done a pretty good job at the top of the order. Hopefully we can bowl tightly to them and create some pressure that way.”
A class actMills elaborated on Kohli. “He is a very good player, I’ve watched footage of him and he’s a class act and his record is stacking up to be as good as Tendulkar. He’s going to have the weight of a nation, so to speak, on him to fill those shoes. That might be an opportunity for us to create that pressure on him.”
The Kiwi said: “A lot of their top-order players have not played in New Zealand conditions before so hopefully that can be an advantage for us.”
