David Miller hit a career best 85 not out and fast bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe picked up four wickets Friday as South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 56 runs in the third one—day international to trail 2—1 in the five—match series.

Miller hit five sixes and four boundaries during his 72—ball innings at No. 7, sharing an unbroken 69—run stand with Ryan McLaren for the eighth wicket after the visitors had slumped to 154—7. That helped South Africa reach a 223—7.

Sri Lanka won the first two games in Colombo.
