In-form India batsman Virat Kohli along with Sachin Tendulkar has been nominated for the top ICC Awards 2012.
While Kohli has been nominated for the Cricketer of the Year and ODI Cricketer of the Year awards, Tendulkar has once again been nominated for the ICC People’s Choice award.
Those nominated for the People’s Choice award include Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara, South Africa’s Vernon Philander and Jacques Kallis, while England’s James Anderson makes up the quintet of nominees.
For the third time in the history of the awards, fans will have the opportunity to decide the winner, this time by accessing an application on the ICC’s official Facebook page: www.facebook.com/cricketicc. Voting will be open until midnight August 31.
Both Sangakkara (2011) and Tendulkar (2010) have won the award in the past.
India captain MS Dhoni and opener Gautam Gambhir have also been nominated for the ODI Cricketer of the Year award.
However, India doesn’t have a single nomination in the Test Cricketer of the Year award.
Six players have been nominated in three different categories — Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal, South Africa’s Hashim Amla, Australia captain Michael Clarke, Sangakkara, England’s Alastair Cook and West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor.
The six players, all feature in the ICC Cricketer of the Year, the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, long list, while the male nominees are all nominated in both the Test Cricketer of the Year and ODI Cricketer of the Year long lists, Taylor on the other hand features in the Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year and Women’s T20 Cricketer of the Year long lists.

I would surely support Virat Kohli but I can't say the same for Sachin.
Because in my view Sachin's glory days are over but he may be presented with "People's choice award" considering his fan following which can't be challenged by others until he retires.
Whereas the condition of Kohli is that he is new face of INDIAN Cricket and also has a long promising career with ever increasing fan base. Kohli who has been the most prolific batsmen post World Cup should be awarded with Cricketer of the year or else it's just politics right there also.

Gambhir for ODI cricketer although I would have thought of Yuvi but he is not there.
Kallis for Cricketer of Year. He has helped SA to get to the pinacle
of test cricket.
Sad to see that Yuvi is not there for Peoples Choice after his battle
with cancer and also his attempts to get back on the field.
Sachin Tendulkar should announce publicly not to consider him for any
awards since he got everything. This will should pave way for other
budding cricketers to get the opportunity to get highest rewards. He
can follow the example of Latha Mangeshkar.

Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale had declared 40 years ago that their
names should not be nominated for any 'best singer' award so that other
singers can get chance to win the award. For such magnanimity, both
sisters are held in high esteem and respect by all Indians. In
contrast, even after getting so much, Sachin is still hungry for
awards, gifts and benefits. This shows his petty-mindedness. At least
after becoming a nominated MP, he should keep away his greed.
