India under-19 records first win

India recorded its first victory on the tour of Sri Lanka winning the second ‘Youth ODI’ by 22 runs, here on Tuesday. The two ‘Youth Tests’ were drawn and the first ODI was abandoned due to rain.

In Tuesday’s match, the India u-19 team, after deciding to bat, scored a fighting 240 before being bowled out in 48.4 overs. Skipper Vijay Zol top-scored with 65 (75b, 7x4, 1x6). Chamika Karunaratne returned figures of four for 44. The Indians then bundled out the host for 218 in 47 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

The scores: India u-19 240 in 48.4 overs (Vijay Zol 67, Ankush Bains 38, Akhil Herwadkar 33, Chamika Karunaratne four for 44, Roshan Anurudda three for 45) bt Sri Lanka u-19 218 in 47 overs (Thilaksha Sumanasiri 73 n.o., Priyamal Perera 47, Abhimanyu Lamba three for 35).
