Abhishek M. Hegde (199, 342b, 443m, 21x4) was dismissed a run short of his double-hundred as IOB declared its innings on 535 for five against AG’s Office in a second-round Plate group match of the TNCA first-division league on Wednesday.

Hegde and A.G. Pradeep (117, 175b, 11x4, 1x6) put on 135 before the former was bowled by seamer Francis Rokins. In reply, AG’s Office ended day two on 111 for one.

At CPT-IP, R. Srinivasan’s 119 (200b, 11x4, 2x6) powered India Pistons to 446 for nine declared against Aruna CC. Along with R. Vishnu (82, 11x4), he added 146.

Left-armers to the fore

Left-arm spinners accounted for all the wickets to fall with the 16-year-old M. Siddharth (six for 122) picking up his second five-wicket haul of the season. Ali Murtuza returned figures of three for 103. Aruna, in response, went to stumps on 176 for four.

Elsewhere, UFCC (T. Nagar) finished with 356 against Southern Railway Institute, skipper K. Varun Kumar (84, 8x4) and Vignesh M. Mohan (51) raising 100 for the sixth wicket.

The off-spin duo of Prashant Awasthi and J. Vignesh picked up four wickets apiece. Awasthi, playing his second game for Railway Institute, claimed eight wickets in the previous match.

In the Elite group, L. Suryapprakash (146, 326b, 471m, 22x4) and S. Suresh Kumar (110, 235b, 306m, 11x4, 1x6) were involved in a 138-run alliance as Grand Slam declared on 483 for six. Jolly Rovers, in reply, was 71 for one.

Young Stars, resuming on 259 for eight, was bowled out for 293, M. Suresh Babu (40 not out) and L. Ganesh (21) adding 48 for the ninth wicket.

Off-spinner Malolan Rangarajan registered his third-consecutive five-for, this time finishing with five for 67. Vijay replied strongly, reaching 246 for two at close.
