Eden Gardens to have a giant clock

August 25, 2013 01:15 am | Updated 01:15 am IST - KOLKATA:

The famous ‘Old Father Time’ weather vane situated on the eastern side of Lord’s sports a huge clock. Similarly the venerable Sydney Cricket Ground has a famed clock tower. Soon Eden Gardens will join this club.

The hallowed venue will have a massive seven-foot clock between the lower tier and the upper tier, well above the sightscreen, by early next year. Once installed, the giant clock will be visible to the entire stadium, excepting the Club House and galleries adjacent to it.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and Seiko, through its Indian arm, are all set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding. Once the MoU is signed, the work will be executed in five months.

The all-weather clock will be maintained by the company at its own cost and the agreement will be for a period of five years. A logo of the company and the CAB will also be displayed on the clock.

Now no captain can afford to arrive late for the toss!
