Buchi Babu cricket tournament: Andhra trounces Bengal

Andhra defeated Bengal by 10 wickets on the first day of the Kalpathi AGS-all-India Buchi Babu cricket tournament here on Friday.

Andhra spinners, offie G.V.S. Prasad and left-armer V. Panchal, claimed five wickets each as Bengal was bundled out for 80.

K.S. Bharath notched up an unbeaten 57 as Andhra surpassed Bengal’s score with ease in the two-innings contest (each innings is restricted to a maximum of 100 overs).

Three score centuries

During the day, there were centuries from TNCA Districts XI’s S. Suresh Kumar (128), Gujarat’s Priyank Panchal (122), and Kerala’s Vishnu Vinod (160).

The scores:

Bengal 80 in 42.2 overs (G.V.S. Prasad five for 26, V. Panchal five for 37) lost to Andhra 82 for no loss in 15.3 overs (K.S. Bharath 57 n.o.).

Points:  Andhra 4, Bengal 0.

TNCA Districts XI 368 in 98.3 overs (S. Suresh Kumar 128, P. Shijit Chandran  82, X. Thalaivan Sargunam 60) vs Uttar Pradesh CA.

TNCA City XI  194 in 73.1 overs (L. Suryapprakash 55, Mehdi Hasan four for 50) vs Hyderabad 71 for no loss in 24 overs.

Gujarat 427 for six in 100 overs (Priyank Panchal 122, Bhargav Merai 81, Akshar Patel 70, Smit Patel 47, Rajul Bhatt 46 n.o.) vs  Mumbai.

Kerala 412 for nine in 100 overs (Vishnu Vinod 160, Akshay Kodoth 61, M. Monish 67 n.o.) vs Odisha.

TNCA President’s XI  277 in 98.3 overs (R. Prasanna 81, M. Prabhu 65, U. Sushil 46, Krishna Das four for 56, J. Syed Mohammed four for 90) vs Assam three for no loss in two overs.
