Although overcast skies may offer some hope, New Zealand seamer Doug Bracewell does not expect conditions to be any friendlier than the previous game when his side meets India for the second Test on Friday.
“Talking to the other guys who have played here, apparently the pitch is quite similar (to Hyderabad) and takes a bit of turn,” he said after a training session at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.
“There is a little grass on it, but they’ll definitely shave it off and keep it as dry as they can. If it stays overcast, though, it might work in our favour a little.”
Bracewell admitted that the wicket at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium hadn’t been as outrageous a turner as the visiting team made it look.
“It wasn’t your typical Bunsen burner wicket but it took a little bit of turn. We’ve got to forget that game and take all the positives we can. It’s tough being 1-0 down in a two-match series.
“We’ve got to go all out in this game and try and get to 1-1.”
Former skipper Daniel Vettori, who is in the squad for the T20 matches, trained with the team and Bracewell felt his experience and knowledge of local conditions would be beneficial.
“Dan has been around for a while; to talk to him and hear his thoughts is a good thing for us. I’m sure the guys are happy to have Dan back in the set-up.”
The home side, meanwhile, trained in the afternoon with Rahul Sharma — part of the India ‘A’ squad — also bowling in the nets.
