The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is keen that the BCCI and the international community in its country add to the existing resources and provide a thrust to the development of the game.
The ACB has identified coaching, umpiring and scoring as the core aspects for immediate attention and asked the BCCI to make a significant contribution on these areas.
Shahazadah Masood, Advisor Minister & Chairman, ACB and Basheer Stanekzai, High Performance Programme Manager, ACB met Sanjay Jagdale, Secretary, BCCI and Ratnakar Shetty, General Manager, Game Development, BCCI at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) on Sunday and asked them to open up opportunities for its under-19 team.
Good meeting
“We had a good meeting with them and the response has been very positive. We want help to develop our technical staff like coaches, umpires, scorers and video analysts.
“The natives in Afghanistan are making a big contribution to the social side and hence we want the international community to support cricket,” said Masood.
The ACB officials have agreed to adhere to the BCCI guidelines that eliminates middlemen or agents who facilitate tours to India at a cost for advance training and playing practice matches.
The ACB has selected a new under-19 squad and it will take part in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) under 19 cup at Malaysia this May. According to Stanekzai the recent positive developments in his country has pointed to an increase in interest for cricket than football.
