Outrage in Libya

September 14, 2012 12:51 am | Updated 12:51 am IST

This is with reference to the article “U.S. envoy to Libya killed” (Sept.13). The details of the attack make it clear that in spite of intelligence reports, the Libyan government has failed miserably to provide security cover. It is incidents like these that lead to mistrust and enmity between the nations.

From a broader framework, it can be noted that this incident has clearly brought out failed western ambitions of creating a true liberal democracy in these states through Arab Spring. On the contrary, it has led to the rooting of traditionalism and fundamentalism in all these states. This incident is a slap in the face of America, which is facing a crisis economically and now in the ideological sphere too.
