Former Kerala High Court Judge R. Basant’s comments that the Suryanelli sex-scandal victim was one who was “used for child prostitution” is cruel and ridiculous (Feb. 10). How could he make such a comment when civil society wants a fresh investigation? Was it to help the Kerala government in its stand of defending some of those accused?
Rather than call the television broadcast of his remarks as “unethical and shameful,” he must help in the need for a fresh investigation.
