The report “Modi as Prime Minister will be welcome: Alagiri” (March 18) was a surprise. It is well known that Mr. Alagiri is a politician who doesn’t treat anyone who comes in his way and ambitions with kid gloves. Is his statement a sign of desperation now that he has been denounced by his father and DMK leader M. Karunanidhi and also suspended from the party? How does he propose to support Mr. Modi?
