Krishna Deva Raya

This has reference to the editorial commemorating Krishnadeva Raya (Dec. 5). It is good to note that the Karnataka government is taking the lead in celebrating Krishnadeva Raya’s 500th year of coronation, as Hampi, the capital of Vijayanagara empire, is in the State.

A Kannadiga, Krishnadeva Raya gave much importance to Telugu literature. He ruled most of Andhra up to Cuttack. It is the responsibility of the Andhra Pradesh government and the Tirumala Tirupathi Devastanams Board to build a grand memorial at Chandragiri to inspire the coming generations.
