Saving the West Asian region from a perpetual state of turmoil is possible only if the financing of rebel groups and terrorist organisations is reined in (“ >The geopolitics of the Islamic state ,” July 3). Gulf monarchies funding groups like ISIS have to grasp the fact that they are only creating a hydra-headed monster. The sectarian divide in the region is largely responsible for the state the Middle East finds itself in today. Talks like the one held recently between Iran and Saudi Arabia should encourage the region to explore peace.
