This refers to the report “ >Centre finalises two-phase plan to evacuate Indians from Iraq ” (July 3). Why is the government wasting time in discussing plans? The moment it learnt of the wave of terrorists overcoming city after city in Iraq, it should have immediately activated all diplomatic measures and evacuated stranded Indians. The argument that certain cities are safer than others does not hold good. India should learn lessons from the U.S., China and Israel which leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety of their citizens when in crises. The report “ >Indians in Mosul used for forced labour ” (July 3) shows that there has to be swift action.
