“Controlling the auditor” (editorial, Nov. 13) has rightly pointed out that the government must stay its hand from making the CAG as multimember body. The temptation to do so only reveals that the UPA government is eager confront the chief auditor in a sinister manner. Had this move been contemplated before the 2G and Coalgate revelations by the CAG, people might have thought that such legislation was need based in accordance with the changing times. Now, the perception is that it is an attempt to snuff out the powers of CAG.

We need to wait and watch notwithstanding the attempts by those in power to deny this.
