Govindasami to join DMK after Assembly session in January

December 14, 2010 01:23 am | Updated 01:23 am IST - Tirupur:

Tirupur MLA C. Govindasami, who was expelled from CPI (M) in July this year, is planning to join the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam immediately after conclusion of the Assembly session scheduled in January.

Asked why he had not officially joined the DMK despite stating his intention to join the party, he told The-Hindu that it was only because of some technical reasons. “Joining DMK straightaway may result in my losing the MLA seat since the CPI (M) has not given in writing to the Assembly Speaker about my removal from the party. I do not want to give up the MLA post as this is a responsibility bestowed upon me by voters of my constituency.”

He would announce the date of joining the DMK after consulting Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
