MoU to protect workers' rights signed

A memorandum of understanding to protect the rights of construction workers working in Kuwait was signed between the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Federation (TCWF) and the Kuwait Trade Union Federation here on Friday.

The MoU was signed by Pon Kumar, chairman of the TCWF and Abdul Rahmani Y. Alkanim, general secretary of the Kuwaiti federation, in the presence of Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan.

Mr. Kumar wanted the Centre to open separate cells in Indian embassies to help workers of Indian origin cheated by unauthorised job agencies.
