32 students given laptops

Thirty-two students belonging to the families of the dairy sector were given laptops by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Friday for their performance in higher secondary examinations.

Seventeen students were from the families of pouring members of Milk Producers' Cooperative Societies; 10 students from those of employees of the Milk Producers' Federation and District Cooperative Milk Producers' Unions and five students from the families of employees of the Primary Milk Producers' Cooperative Societies, according to an official release issued here.

The Chief Minister also gave away cheques to nine milk producers belonging to the different unions towards incentive. These union members represented 1.60 lakh milk producers, who were given the incentive of Rs. 17.47 crore. They were attached to four District Unions of Tiruchi, Coimbatore, Madurai and Kanyakumari.

U. Mathivanan, Dairy Development Minister; M.P. Nirmala, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Secretary; and Apurva Varma, Dairy Development Commissioner-Tamil Nadu Milk Producers' Federation Managing Director, were present.
