The State Lorry Owners’ Federation – Tamil Nadu (SLOFTN) has threatened to suspend the operation of 4,500 trucks to Kerala if the government of that State does not drop its proposal to construct dams across rivers that bring water from Kerala to Tamil Nadu.

Federation president K. Nallathambi said in a statement here on Saturday that Kerala’s plans would severely affect drinking water supply and farming in those parts of Tamil Nadu that share river water with Kerala. Every day, close to 4,500 trucks from Tamil Nadu carry various goods, including essential commodities, to Kerala.
