Bal Thackeray back home

August 02, 2012 03:59 am | Updated 03:59 am IST - Mumbai:

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray was discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Bandra on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr. Thackeray, 86, was admitted to the hospital on July 24 after he complained of breathlessness and acute constipation. “While endoscopy has been deferred, his condition is now stable and we are closely monitoring his condition,” Dr. Jalil Parkar said.

“After a closed-door conversation between Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray, anaesthetist Dr. Satish Kulkarni and interventional gastroenterologist Nageshwar Reddy, it was decided that endoscopy would be performed only after observing the senior Thackeray’s health for a few days,” Dr. Parkar said.

“He will undergo regular check-ups and within 10 days it will be decided if there is still need for endoscopy,” Dr. Parkar said adding that only Dr. Reddy would be authorised to conduct the endoscopy procedure. Mr. Thackeray spent two days in the ICU and was later shifted to a special room in the hospital.
