City police on Tuesday claimed it is on the verge of cracking the case of two engineering exam paper leaks with six people including students and two Mumbai University employees being detained as part of the probe.

“We have detained six people. Among those detained include two university employees and some students,” a crime branch official here said.

Police’s crime branch has questioned over 20 students as a part of its probe into two engineering examination paper leaks last month.

Crime branch sources said poor security measures led to paper leaks.

The two engineering papers — Basic Electricals and Electronics Engineering — for ATKT (allowed to keep term) students held on May 26 and Applied Physics—II paper for first—year students of Mumbai varsity conducted on May 23 — were leaked hours before the scheduled examinations.
