Maoist squad member detained in Midnapore

A Maoist squad member who was involved in a killing in West Midnapore district was detained from Midnapore town on Tuesday.

The squad member, Viswanath Mahato, who was a squad member in the Badhgora-Manikpara area in Jhargram subdivision was involved in the killing of a man, Nirmal Nayak, in January 2001, police sources said.

Mahato was being questioned, they said.
