Four media persons among six hurt in road mishap near Kasargod

Six persons, including four media persons, were injured when the autorikshaw they were travelling dashed against a car at Nullippadi here on Wednesday, police said.

The mishap occurred as the three-wheeler was dashed by the Maruthi car while moving out to the National Highway from the nearby petrol pump at Nullippadi around 1130 hours as the media personnel were proceeding to cover the State School games being held at the Municipal stadium grounds here.

The injured media persons are ‘Mathrubhumi’ daily local Reporter N Soumya (25), ‘Kerala Kaumudi’ daily Reporter P Sreedharan (34), ‘Madhyamam’ daily Reporter Sameer (23) and ‘Janayugom’ daily Reporter

Narayanan Karicheri (34).

The autorikshaw driver P K Prasad (23) and P Hameed (60), another passenger, were among those injured in the mishap, they said adding that the injured were being treated at a private hospital here, and their condition was said to be “stable”.

However, the ‘Mathrubhumi daily Reporter Soumya, who sustained acute back pain in the mishap was taken to a hospital in Mangalore, the Daily sources here said.
