Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate the 4th Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on December 1.
Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, K.N. Satheesh, Director, GKSF, and District Collector and convener of the festival K.V. Mohan Kumar said already 6,000 traders and shops had registered for the festival as against the 5,400 of the previous year.
They said that 101 kg of gold would be given as prizes in the festival. The first prize would be 1 kg gold for three winners and the second prize half-a-kg gold for six winners.
Apart from gold gift, handloom cloth made in Kerala would also be a gift item in the ‘scratch and win' section, they said.
The inaugural function would be followed by a Thayambaka concert by Mattannur Sankarankutty accompanied by Prakash Ullyery in the keyboard. This would be followed by a ganamela by K.S. Chithra, Mano, Madhu Balakrishnan, Manjari and Vinod Sheshadri.
A classical dance lead by Manjula Ramaswamy would also form part of the programmes.
The inaugural function would be presided over by Home and Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
Industries Minister Elamaram Karim, Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac and Electricity Minister A.K. Balan would also be present.
