Janata Dal (S) will be writing to the Kerala Assembly Speaker to disqualify the three MLAs, who contested and won on JD(S) ticket and later left the party and formed the Socialist Janata (Democratic), which is part of the Congress-led United Democratic Front.
JD(S), which was with CPI(M)-led LDF for many years, had received a jolt after M P Veerendrakumar left the party with some of his followers, on being denied a ticket to contest from the Kozhikode Lok Sabha seat. He later formed the Socialist Jamata (Democratic).
Talking to reporters, Mathew P Thomas, newly elected President of JD(S), said the letter would be handed over to the Speaker in a week’s time.
The MLAs are K P Mohanan, M V Shreyamskumar and M K Premnath.
JD(S) had not suffered any setbacks after Mr. Veerendrakumar and few others left the party, he said. Veerendrakumar had left the party only because he was denied the Kozhikode Lok Sabha seat by the LDF, he added.
