Congress flays Jethmalani

Published - June 30, 2012 02:37 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The APCC has refuted the charges levelled by Rajya Sabha member and jurist Ram Jethmalani against UPA’s Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee.

PCC spokesperson B. Kamalakar Rao said it is ridiculous on the part of Mr. Jethmalani to level such allegations when Mr. Mukherjee was backed by a majority of the parties. It is Mr. Jethmalani who fought cases on behalf of persons involved in criminal activities and defended smuggler Haji Mastan, Charles Shobraj, and assassins of late Indira Gandhi besides those involved in money laundering. “Is this his contribution to the nation,” Mr. Kamalakar Rao said adding that Mr Jethmalani has no moral right to criticise Mr. Mukherjee.
