'Dharma Sansad'
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday made a strong pitch for building the Ram Temple on the disputed site at Ayodhya, saying only the mandir would come up there and not any other structure. Addressing the "Dharma Sansad", a congregation of 2,000 Hindu saints, mutt heads and VHP leaders from across the country at this small temple town here, he said there should be no ambiguity that Ram Temple will be built at Ayodhya.
'Mock drill'
A mock Tsunami drill involving government agencies and response forces was conducted on Friday along the coastal areas across the country. The exercises were carried out today in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Union Territory of Pondicherry.

Breaking the glass ceiling, the city of Nawabs, Lucknow, will create history on Sunday by electing its first-ever woman mayor in 100 years.

Kolkata fire
A fire broke out this morning at a leather goods manufacturing unit at Chowbaga area off E M Bypass, in the eastern part of the city. Press Trust of India reported that seven fire tenders were pressed into service to put off the flames, first spotted around 9:45 am.
There was no report of casualty or anyone being trapped inside the factory,they said. The fire was believed to have been triggered by a short circuit in the unit. Police, fire brigade personnel with the help of local people have cordoned off the entire area.
Chennai car crash
An Innova car fell from an incomplete flyover in Red Hills, Chennai. Three persons of the same family died and two others, including the driver, were injured.
Celebrity wedding
Popular South Indian actor Namitha married her boyfriend Veerendra Chowdary at the ISKCON's Lotus temple in Tirupati on Friday.
Namitha, who made her debut in 2002 with the Telugu movie Sontham , migrated to Kollywood later. She has paired opposite many leading actors including, Vijay, Ajith, Satyaraj, Vijaykanth and Sarathkumar.
Suicide blast in Peshawar
A suicide bomber on Friday rammed his motorcycle into a vehicle, killing a senior Pakistani police officer and his gunman in Peshawar city, capital of the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Additional Inspector General (AIG) Headquarters Ashraf Noor and his gunman were killed and six cops escorting the vehicle were injured in the blast, police said.

Zimbabwe welcomes Emmerson Mnangagwa
There was plenty of cheer in Harare, Zimbabwe, hours before the swearing-in ceremony for the country's new President, Emmerson Mnangagwa. The ceremony will take place at a 60,000-seater stadium. This is days after Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe's leader for 37 years, announced his resignation. Mr. Mnangagwa of the ruling party Zanu-PF, will serve Mugabe’s remaining term until elections at some point next year.
Building collapse in Delhi
The building was about 50 to 60 years old and belongs to a retired government servant, Dhruv Kumar. He and a labourer are believed to be buried under the rubble. Rescue operations are on.

Washed ashore
Japanese police are investigating eight men found on Japan's northern coast who say they are from North Korea and washed ashore after their boat broke down. Akita prefectural police said on Friday they found the men late Thursday after receiving a call that a group of suspicious men were standing around at the seaside in Yurihonjo town. Police also found the wooden boat at the marina.
