We will ensure safety of Indian tourists: Official

Days after the terror attack in Dhaka claimed 22 lives, the Bangladesh government has said it will ensure the safety of Indian tourists.

Speaking to The Hindu on Saturday, Jyotirmay Barman, Joint Secretary, Bangladesh Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, said: “The safety of Indian tourists will be ensured. We are committed to it.”

Mr. Barman, who was in the city to attend Travel and Tourism Fair, said the government was “pro-active” in handling situation arising out of the terror attacks and their impact on tourism.

“It is a question of our image. Our government has been pro-active in handling the situation, and the entire process is being conducted under the direct supervision of our Prime Minister,” Mr. Barman said.
