The Uttar Pradesh police has banned low-waist trousers for its policemen.
According to the new directive, women personnel have also been asked to wear shirts and trousers in place of salwar kameez or sari, which some of them wear presently.
“A committee headed by ADG (Law and Order) Mukul Goel was constituted by DGP A.L. Banerjee recently to regulate the uniform wore by policemen. On its recommendation, low-waist pants/trousers for policemen has been banned in the State,” IG (Law and Order) A. Satish Ganesh said.
He was replying to a question related to the tight-fitting and low-waist pants of policemen, similar to the ones seen in Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Singham.’
He said directives in this regard have been issued by the DGP.
Women personnel can wear tunic and pants, according to the directive.
